Why This Partnership Matters

Whether it’s securing a cabinet or door with a smart lock, managing your garden with a tap timer, or monitoring the elements with a weather station, many of our battery-operated smart products rely on power from standard cells like AA or AAA Alkaline batteries to function reliably.
However, we also know that used batteries are a growing waste problem in Australia. When disposed of in regular household bins, batteries can end up in landfill where they may leak toxic materials or pose significant fire risks.
By partnering with B-cycle, Armstrong Smart Access is taking a proactive stand to "close the loop." We are joining a nationwide network of manufacturers, retailers, and everyday Australians dedicated to keeping batteries out of landfill and keeping their valuable materials in circulation.
What is B-cycle?
B-cycle is the national product stewardship scheme for batteries, backed by the Commonwealth Government and authorised by the ACCC. It creates a seamless network that makes it easy for Australians to recycle their batteries safely.
Through this scheme, used batteries are collected, sorted, and processed to recover essential materials—like zinc, lithium, and nickel—which can then be used to manufacture new products. It’s a true circular economy solution that transforms potential waste into a resource.

1. Tape the terminals of used batteries with clear sticky tape to prevent fires.
