Collection: Sliding Mortice (85 Series)
An 85 series sliding mortice is a specialised lock body designed specifically for sliding doors. The number "85" refers to the standard 85mm center-to-center distance between the handle spindle hole and the euro profile cylinder hole.
Key features of an 85 series sliding mortice lock include:
Hook or Claw Bolt: Unlike swing locks that use a standard rectangular deadbolt, this lock features a hook-shaped bolt. When locked, the hook extends and rotates downwards to grip the strike plate, preventing the sliding door from being pulled away from the frame or lifted out of its track.
85mm Pitch: The 85mm spacing ensures compatibility with a wide variety of euro-style sliding door handles and escutcheons.
Narrow Backsets: These locks often come with narrower backsets (e.g., 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, or 35mm) to fit into the slim profiles of aluminium or timber sliding door stiles.
Security: It is designed to work with a Euro profile cylinder, allowing for secure key locking from one or both sides of the door.
